We searched for months looking for the right van, even employing a broker to scour national auctions. Eventually in 2017 we found our van in McLean, Virginia. We flew up to D.C. to pick it up and drive it home. The salesman thought it was a long way to drive the van home from Virginia to Florida, but he didn't know this was actually just a warm-up. When we got the van home, we began the project of converting it from a passenger van to our customized touring van. Part way through this initial conversion, we found ourselves in the cross hairs of Hurricane Irma, which was being hyped as a monster that would devastate South Florida after crippling the Caribbean. We packed some essentials in our untested van as Hurricane Irma Refugees. Seeking safety we headed out on our first adventure and the name Fugee, short for refugee was earned.
